Portfolio Dashboard

Projects is the console's default destination and its project board. It shows the projects your organization can access, and opening one lands in Overview, with Documents, Review, and Activity beside it in the app header. Old ?tab=portfolio links still redirect here.

The selected project's one current developer action — Submit Project, Start Response, or Resubmit Project — sits in the app header beside the project's views. It does not repeat a lifecycle-status badge and shows no action while the utility owns the next step. When readiness blocks submission, the readiness panel owns the explanation so the compact header does not repeat it.

Background updates

The gated permission-aware rollout refreshes every loaded project without resetting scroll or replacing the list with loading placeholders. Missing rows on a page are not treated as deletions; authorized reconciliation confirms removal separately. Project-scoped subscriptions prioritize the selected project and visible rows, capped at 50 topics per tab; remaining loaded rows refresh periodically. See live-update status.

What Counts as a Project

A project is the durable container for work that should persist: uploaded project files, validation runs, deficiencies, scorecards, remediation status, and reports.

Creating a project asks for a name, capacity, and the distribution/transmission track. When the selected utility publishes more than one interconnection program for that track, a Program dropdown appears and must be answered — the project declares its program up front and the review runs against that program's rules. Utilities with a single program never show the dropdown.

The Create Project utility picker requires a released, full packet setup for the selected utility, state, and program. By default, a normal choice does not need a receiving organization for private review. Authorized synthetic choices require a valid test pairing backed by a released utility; they do not activate real utility submissions. A utility inherited from Research must qualify too. The support check starts as soon as the dialog opens; choose another utility if yours is unsupported, or use Retry to run the check again if it could not be completed. Research still offers the full catalog; review coverage depends on the supported state and interconnection program. Contact support when utility setup is incomplete. An available choice does not guarantee exhaustive requirement coverage or utility approval. Submit Project is available only after GridWonk and an authorized utility representative accept that exact state and program and the utility has an active reviewer. Resubmit Project after a deficiency notice is not blocked by that acceptance; see Private Reviews and Utility Submissions.

If you selected an authorized synthetic utility, the project still uses the named canonical utility's documents and requirements. The server re-checks the active applicant organization and reciprocal test pairing before routing the project to the synthetic utility organization. A stale or forged synthetic selection is rejected.

Internally, GridWonk stores projects in the existing application_submissions table. In the UI we call them projects because that is the user-facing object. GridWonk creates a hidden internal reference for new console projects and can later map or replace it when a utility system assigns an official application number.

Documents During Creation

You can select optional documents in Create Project. After a valid selection, the drop area closes and a file count appears. Filenames and removal controls stay visible; Add files reopens the drop area, and removing the last file restores it. The title and action buttons remain visible while the form scrolls on short screens or at larger browser zoom.

Choose up to 12 PDF, PNG, JPEG, or DWG files (30 MB each, 120 MB combined), or one ZIP by itself. Invalid additions show an error without discarding accepted files. Create and upload creates the project, then starts upload on Documents, where upload permissions and ZIP availability are checked again. You can still create a project without documents.

Enter the AC (alternating current) nameplate capacity. Capacity help expands the unit definitions; the short conversion stays visible: 1 MW = 1,000 kW.

How Projects Are Grouped

Capacity entry defaults to kW (kilowatts), with an explicit MW (megawatts) selector. Storage and APIs use MW: 11.4 kW is 0.0114 MW. Overview shows capacity, the application's declared AC/DC rating when available, and discrepancies rather than silently replacing the entered value.

Cards and Overview use the same current findings as Documents and Review. Completed document checks produce a Partial document review summary immediately; a current completed packet review shows Review Finished and replaces overlapping document checks. Open its Coverage section to inspect missing inputs. A partial summary never enables submission. Utility labels use display names. Activity shows persisted upload, document-review, CAD-attachment, and packet-review events, without inventing historical events.

Projects are listed in two sections, Needs your attention first and Other projects below, each with its own count. Long lists load a page at a time; use Load more projects for the rest. Developer organizations also get Create project here.

Project Cards

Each project card shows:

ElementDescription
ProjectProject name, or the application number when the project has no name
Demo badgeMarks a demonstration project
UtilityUtility and state for the project
DocumentsNumber of linked project documents
Review summaryCurrent review state for the project
Next actionThe developer-facing step this project is waiting on
UpdatedWhen the project last changed

Each card is a link, so you can open a project in a new tab or copy its address. An ordinary click opens that project's Overview. Changing or clearing the selected project also clears any packet-review selection.

Aggregate Rollups Are Retired

The old portfolio aggregate view moved to the console's Analytics destination, and that destination has been removed. Utility-level application counts, average readiness, deficiency totals, and the portfolio CSV export are no longer available in the console. Per-project status lives here on Projects.
